Dental crowns are custom-made caps that your dentist places over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their shape, size, strength, and appearance. These protective coverings encase the entire visible portion of your tooth above the gum line, providing both functional and aesthetic benefits.
A fixed dental crown recreates your visible tooth surface, providing both function as well as cosmetic benefits for anyone with worn or broken teeth.
Ceramic crowns are made to match the color and translucency of the teeth around them, so the restored tooth sits in with the rest of your smile.
With proper care, dental crowns can last for many years.
Here is what each stage of treatment usually involves. Your dentist will talk you through anything that differs in your case.

Read our reviews on GoogleI had a crown installed and they did an awesome job, I would recommend this place for your dentist
I had a crown fall out during dinner last night, so I called Wildomar denistry to see if I could get in. I was told to come in and they would try to fit me in. About half an hour later, I was leaving with my crown reattached. Double thumbs up 👍 and an easy five star rating. Thank you so much!
Dr. Koushyar and his team are truly exceptional! After being told I needed multiple crowns by another dentist, I was relieved to get a second opinion from Dr. Koushyar. He thoroughly examined my teeth and determined that I only needed a few simple fillings. The entire experience was fantastic. Dr. Koushyar was gentle and explained everything clearly, and the team was incredibly friendly and caring. If you're looking for an honest, skilled, and compassionate dentist, look no further! Highly recommend!
So very happy with the service that this office provides! I needed to find a local dentist, to fix a cracked crown I had on a front tooth. I searched several dental groups in the area, and after seeing the google reviews for Velk Dentistry, I decided to try them. BEST dentist I've ever been to in my 58 years! I received a thorough exam, and Dr. Velk explained everything as he went along. The crown was repaired and I'll be returning for work that needs to be done on other teeth. I would highly recommend this dental office to family and friends.
My wife and I have been going to both Erik & Angela Velk since moving to Murrieta in 1999. We feel like family, and are always treated with extra care.A few years ago I had a painful problem with an old crown on a weekend, and Dr. Erik came in on a Saturday afternoon and treated me which kept me from having to suffer through the weekend. One thing that is very impressive is that the doctors have kept current with all of the technology as it pertains to giving the patients the best treatment options. We highly recommend Velk Family Dentistry to everyone.
Quick and easy crown
Spending nearly 10 years looking for the right dentist, I am so grateful to find Velk Family Dentistry. So many other dentists I've been to in the inland empire I felt we're trying to rip me off like saying I needed 3 crowns and giving me 4 different pricing options and etc. It felt like I was buying a car! Doctor Eric is so personable, gentle, and most important, upfront and explains the details to you that I felt so comfortable and confident under his care. Plus he performs root canals and crowns himself! All the other dentists I've seen always referred me to a specialist but this man does it all! That's how skilled he is! The same night after I did my root canal he even called me personally to make sure everything felt fine and that I was doing good. You cannot go wrong making Velk Family Dentistry your family dentist! From someone who is afraid of the dentist, I highly recommend coming here.
You are welcomed by Miss Allison, who is a most professional and kind gateway into the Remarkable Team of the Velk Family Dentistry…. Miss Allison continues to impress with her skills to keep things in order in such a busy environment—- and Once you walk past her beautiful greeting and essential paperwork, the Team Expands with the most Talented, Compassionate, and Extraordinary Peoples, Dr Eric Velk and his beloved Dr Angie Velk, Miss Martha and so it goes on and on…. Instead of dreading going to the Dentist — this most Wondrous Group have created an atmosphere of comfort, as well as meeting your specific needs with Grace and a sense of Hope comes to your HeartSpace……Both my beloved husband Douglas, and I cannot express our immense appreciation and gratitude for this Beautiful Place —-Especially after having the reluctance of ever seeing or being in a dentist’s office again, for me personally, after having undergone the horror of having to pay massive amounts of money to a prior dentist — who basically put crowns upon decaying teeth without first cleaning the decay out, resulting in entire teeth coming out, as well as veneers that, thanks to Dr Eric Velk, have now been completely renewed — using his Gift and Talent to create beautiful new veneers over the mess of tiny sawed off teeth of this other dentist.I cannot express, once again, our gratitude—— creating Hope once one has lost all hope is so profound in so many ways…. Miss Allison provides you with a clean, printed out sheet that shows your Journey through what needs to be done , how much it will cost, and a time frame…. Compared to the prior dentist, who fired his best employee and brought in his wife who scribbled down things and highlighted in yellow and purple highlighter pens - “discounts,” — of which we have yet to be reimbursed—- The Velk Family Dentistry is a Blessing beyond a Blessing……With Immense Gratitude to Every Member of this Miraculous Team……We couldn’t recommend You All More-!!Douglas Crowell, Esq.AndAshley Collins

On average, a well-maintained dental crown lasts at least 10-15 years. However, it's not unheard of to have crowns last 20 years or more with good home care.
As your tooth's nerve responds to the enamel being reshaped during the crown preparation phase, it's natural to experience some heightened sensitivity. Symptoms tend to be temporary, improving in a matter of days or weeks after your permanent crown is placed. If sensitivity persists, our dentist may need to make adjustments to the way your crown bites against the opposing teeth.
Getting a dental crown is just as comfortable as having a routine dental filling. To ensure a gentle process, we use numbing medications that desensitize your tooth before making any adjustments. Some minor soreness at the injection site or in your jaw is to be expected.
Temporary dental crowns are worn after the preparation appointment before your permanent crown is placed. These crowns may come off if you chew sticky food or floss around them. However, permanent crowns are securely fixed to your tooth and are safe to floss (but we do recommend avoiding sticky foods.) The only reason why a permanent crown may fall of is usually because of recurring decay around the tooth.
The fee for a dental crown can vary significantly, depending on the type of materials being used and how many crowns you need, or if a tooth requires a build-up beforehand. Additionally, factors like insurance benefits can reduce the price of your new "cap." Depending on your situation, the average fee can range between $500 to $2000 per tooth. To ensure clear pricing on all treatments, Wildomar Smiles Dentistry provides detailed treatment plans that outline all fees, estimated insurance benefits, and optional financing plans to every patient.
Dental crowns are extremely durable, but they require good oral hygiene to ensure they last as long as possible. Always plan to brush around your crown twice a day, and be sure to floss around the crown daily. Flossing will not remove a permanent crown. However, not flossing a crown could allow bacteria to accumulate around the margins of your restoration, leading to recurring tooth decay, gum disease and bone loss, and crown failure. Be sure to plan a checkup and cleaning at Wildomar Smiles Dentistry at least twice a year to have your dental work evaluated.
